How Will California Balance the Budget?
After three years of unrestrained spending the state finds itself in a budget crisis. The big question everyone should ask is how will the balance the budget? Most observers expect Governor Gray Davis to propose a budget that will rely heavily upon borrowing from future tax years, reducing payments to local governments and smoke and mirrors to produce what he will call a balanced budget.
Lawmakers in Sacramento have taken all tax money collected and put it through a huge funnel with only a drop splattering back to the point at which most services are actually paid for, local government, since the passage of Proposition 13 in 1978.
We will be talking with Tulare County officials, the Visalia Chamber of Commerce CEO, Ken Opplinger, Assemblyman Mike Briggs and others about the impact of shifting tax dollars on our local economies. Our emphasis is always on job creation which will raise the standard of living for all who are in the San Joaquin Valley thereby helping to maintain a quality of life and stable real estate values. We will have an open phone line this Saturday to discuss this as well interest rate trends, development news, and as always we are here to answer your questions regarding real estate. The numbers to call on Saturday are 490-5858 or 1-800-776-5858.
I welcome your comments and suggestions for this show and
